Websites & Blogs

At Portland Schools, we utilize a few different products for generating a web presence. Different staff have different needs, and we like to think we have a solution for all of those needs. If there is a product you think our staff would benefit from, please let us know!

School Messenger Presence Websites (Formerly Sharpschool)

Staff that have been here for a while are familiar with what we used to call Sharpschool. Many schools held trainings for staff on how to create teacher pages in this CMS (content management system) and some staff have developed beautiful pages already. With the introduction of the new Google Sites, and also the easy to use Blogger, most staff are no longer developing their pages in this product.

However all 18 of our school websites are still hosted on this platform, and now that School Messenger bought out Sharpschool, constant improvements are taking place to make the software easier to use and better looking.

For help with Creation, Maintenance, and other questions, please view the full help page for Presence websites.

Google Sites

Many people are already familiar with the old Google Sites. Now Sites has been re-designed and is easier to use than ever! Many staff are utilizing Sites for their teacher webpages already, and if you are interested in doing this as well but would like some help please check out the full help page for tips, how-to's and even requesting one-on-one or group training.

Blogger

For staff looking for any easier alternative to having a webpage to maintain, many have started using https://blogger.google.com

You can use the Blogger app on your phone to easily blog about the school day, homework, or add pictures.
